    Only a half day for such an interesting city? I thought it is impossible but You did it! I think we didn’t miss any of the most famous sights – anyway, I think i’ll visit some of them again, in a more detailed way. Maybe I’l try your Parliament tour…

If you don’t live in a great city, you may find it difficult to orientate in this always bustling metropolis. But you don’t need to worry because there are some certain reference points which are known by everyone. For example, the bridges over the River Danube; are worth visiting one by one. They have a unique design, a modern structure, or an interesting history. The best-known piece is the first permanent bridge over the Danube. It’s called Széchenyi Chain Bridge, which bridgeheads are guided by stone lions. On the pedestal of one of them, you can read the motto of István Széchenyi’s family: „If God with us, who could be against us?” He initiated the building of this bridge from which our „Budapest Sightseeing Tour” trip starts.

We pass the House of the Hungarian Parliament which was built in eclectic style and the third biggest parliament in the world. Then we arrive at the first district, which is also known as the Castle District. This is a real paradise for the fans of the historical buildings. During a pleasant walk, we’ll visit the Buda Castle, the Mathias Church from the 13th century, the Fisherman’s Bastion – and some other imposing sights.

Sightseeing Trip in Budapest

With a half-day to discover Budapest, the Grand City Sightseeing Tour makes the perfect introduction for the first time visitor. First, we start from the Chain Bridge and we pass the Parliament building. Through the Margaret Bridge, we arrive at the most famous center of the Buda side called, the Castle District. During a nice walk, we show you the most popular sights as the Matthias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion. Next, we drive you to the Gellért Hill (Citadel) and show you the most breathtaking view of Budapest. We then take you over the Elisabeth Bridge to the Pest side and show you the famous Central Market Hall and the largest Synagogue of Europe, after which we drive to the City Park. Here you can find the Szechenyi spa- Europe’s largest thermal spa, the Budapest Zoo, and the Amusement Park. Here we stop at the Heroes’ square, to see the status of the Hungarian kings. We then take the Andrássy Avenue to downtown Pest, pass by the Opera House and the St Stephen’s Basilica. The Tour ends in the city center.

Budapest offers not only cultural programs but also parks with several natural values. And there are some places in the Hungarian capital city which abound both kinds of sights, such as the Margaret Island, the Gellért Hill, or the City Park. A walk to the top of the Gellért Hill maybe a little bit tiring, but when you enjoy the best view to the city from the Liberty Statue, you’ll know that each inch of the tour has been worth it.

Besides the well-known Citadel, there are some other important sights on the hill. We recommend the Philosophers’ Garden or the statue of the martyr Gellért. The oldest platans and swamp cypresses in City Park are nearly 200 years old! The Vajdahunyad Castle here was built for the millennial celebration of the Hungarian Conquest; it’s the wonderful copy of the original home castle of the Hunyadi family. Designers wanted it to be only a temporary creation, but it became a real success, so it was rebuilt from lasting materials.

Two of our stops are between the Gellért Hill and the City Park, and both of them offer exciting minutes. The greatest synagogue of Europe can be found in the Dohány street, and it is the part of the World Heritage. The other one is the Central Market. Do you think that markets are only the passion of elderlies? If so, think it over again! Its neogothic gate, roof decorated with Zsolnay porcelain, and other exclusive parts make it valuable from the architectural aspect, too. Naturally, the traditional (and high-quality) food supply of markets can be found here, but if you’d like to buy some souvenirs, you’ll find plenty of them. Moreover: sometimes different events are organized here, too.

The are some other sights near City Park. During the Budapest Sightseeing Tours, we pass the Budapest Zoo and the Fun Fair – both of them could deserve a trip themselves. On the Heroes’ Square, we’ll watch the statues of some famous Hungarian kings and heroes.

The greatest thermal bath in Europe can be found in Budapest. This is the established Széchenyi Bath, which opened in 1913. Its carefully designed colorful glass windows and statues offer an aesthetic environment for the guests. And let’s see a fun fact: one of the several thermal springs which supply the bath supplies also the hippopotamus of the Budapest Zoo.

At the end of our sightseeing tour, we’ll walk along the famous Andrássy Avenue, then flash a glance to the Opera House designed by Miklós Ybl and the St Stephen’s Basilica, which is the most significant building of the Hungarian Catholic Church.
